Happy New School Year!
Welcome back boys and girls! Summer vacation is now over and we're off to a great new start for the new academic year. I want to wish you all the best to a great year of learning. We will have fun and I look forward to being with the 2009-10 Grade 5 Graduating Class!
About Me
- Mr.Hanson
- Markham, Ontario, Canada
- [School] I am a grade 5 teacher at Randall Public School. I enjoy my job and adopt a work hard play hard mentality. Laughter in my classroom is my secret weapon to learning. I know what it was like growing up in elementary school. I had teachers that would give me a hard time for simply being a kid. Well in my class, I believe in reality based teaching. You can be yourself in my class as long as you do the work...it's that simple. [Personal life] I love watching DVD's in my spare time, training Martial arts, and lifting weights to stay in shape. I eat healthy and enjoy laughing. Walmart and No-frills are my favorite stores. I love watching action and comedy movies. Reading non-fiction books is also a passtime of mine. I enjoy expressing myself in writing and look forward to maintaining this blog.

ReplyDeleteWell Mr.Hanson the probability fraction is like income and outcome machine for example: 1 over 2, the 1 is the income and the 2 is the outcome

ReplyDeletemr hanson i want to be on the speech team but i have done much .i am only on my sub topic jot note organizer. so i was wondering if you could post up the steps i need to do .anyways i will need to be caught up so why not now.
ReplyDeleteSMIT
Smit, if you have my speech step by step package, then all you need to do is follow that. If not, then, this is what you need to do:
ReplyDelete1. Introduction/catchy opening(8-10 sentences)
2. 4-6 subtopic paragraphs (8-10 sentences)
3. Conclusion (8-10 sentences): sum up what you talked about in a few sentences, then in the remaining, put a personal touch (comment, question, prediction, questions, thoughts, advice etc.)
Smit, make sure your speech is 3-5 minutes long.
Blog me some more if you like.
Mr Hanson, I want to know if we need to memorize the speech before we you make the cuts?
ReplyDeleteMatthew D
thank you mr hanson now i will start but can you post up tips?
ReplyDeleteMatthew, you might as well start memorizing, it will only improve your inclass performance, and increase the likelihood of you making the cut. Face it, memorizing will improve your game anyway for your inclass speech...everyone should do this.
ReplyDeleteSmit...speech tips....do you have my handout on speeches or did you leave it in class?
Mr Hanson,
ReplyDeleteI finished memorizing my speech and looked over my DRA practice booklet.
Matthew D
i will try memorize it but i can not completely i did some but not all.
ReplyDeleteMr Hanson, do I have to present my references?
ReplyDeleteMatthew D
No, don't mention references in your speech, just save that for the written part.
ReplyDeletethanks, Mr Hanson. I'll practice alot tonite.
ReplyDeleteMatthew D
i think that memorizing the whole speech might be a little hard.but i will try my best to memorize all of it. i will try to do the speak and look down and read ahead.but i am scared that i will mess up while i am saying the speech or when i am trying to read ahead.
ReplyDeleteMr H,
ReplyDeleteFor my speech, I'm going to fix my mistakes but is it ok if I dont rewrite. I will just add on blank paper then when you think it's ok. Then I will write my final good copy.
Matthew D
Matthew, sure, write it separately, then do a final copy.
